Manufacturers ready to sign special investment contracts not being sure why
Premier Dmitry Medvedev charged the ministries of industry and trade, economic development, health, and financeas well as the Russian Federal Antimonopoly Service withelaborating an issue on terms of attributing human drugs manufactured under special investment contracts (SPICs) to products of the Russian origin. The above agenciesare to reporton the resultsto the government not later than November 24th. Pharmaceutical manufacturers have a weird feeling about SPICs: businesse shave no doubt that this mechanism is attractive; at the same time, nobody knows how it is to be implemented. Therefore, whenfiling SPI Capplications, manufacturers just believe that the situation will not change for the worse.

There sults of a joint survey made by Bayer and All-Russia Public Opinion Research Center “Bayer Barometer” make one turn to the issue of innovative, originator, and generic drugs once again. Persurveydata, 56% of Moscow residents preferoriginator drugs, and 52% of them do not intend to switch to generics even in case their income decreases.

Local generics start competing fiercely
The innovations that have been the subject of the government recentinitiative sare not close to heart of local manufacturers so far. Despitetheclinicaltrialsmarketactivityobserved over the past few years, the trend to increase in the number of innovative drugs is weak. Atthesametime, analysts point out that theim port substitutionis a reality in certain segments. However, this is not about innovations;it is local generis that are struggling for market shares.
